Axel arrived 1999 in Hanoi as an associated expert to the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) to advise the Ministry of Planning and Investment in the field of private sector promotion. Since 2002 he works as a freelance advisor in the international cooperation, in particular on behalf of the German government in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries in the field of economic development. In parallel, he supports European companies with market research, development of distribution networks, identification of production locations, establishment of local productions, identification of local partners and intercultural trainings and coaching for Vietnam. He also advises and prepares Vietnamese expatriates for their posting in Germany, Switzerland or Austria. As co-founder of a small river cruise company in the Mekong Delta in 2010 with about 100 employees he has also hands-on experience as an entrepreneur in Vietnam. This is complemented in his function as shareholder and advisory board member for a small social venture incubator in central Vietnam. In parallel, Axel lectures at an executive MBA of the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland and the Ho-Chi-Minh University of Technology in Saigon. Axel works in German and English.
