Fiesta Mexicana, sombreros, narcos – there is hardly any other country in Germany that has such a clichéd image as the USA’s southern neighbor. However, Mexico is not only the sixth largest automobile producer in the world, but also offers an interesting investment climate for many international companies. Therefore, a more intensive cultural examination of the country is worthwhile in order to understand what drives the predominantly younger and highly motivated society in its striving for professional growth and which national values play a key role in this process.
The Mexican work and business culture appears to be very opposite to the German approach in many aspects, although one should not make the mistake of a simplistic analysis of certain behavioral patterns. Successful negotiating and working with Mexicans requires a profound knowledge of country-specific characteristics of common cultural dimensions such as communication behavior, understanding of time or organizational structures. The primary goal of our intercultural business training on Mexico is to convey this knowledge and explain it with examples.
